Director
of Training and Player Development : Mark
Hayers is a native of Manchester
England where he has had a longstanding association
with the English Professional Soccer Club,
Manchester City. As a player in the youth
development program at Manchester City, Mark
trained under the top names in English Soccer.
During these years he excelled as both a
field player, as well as a Goalkeeper. As
Mark transitioned into the coaching side
of soccer, he once again worked and studied
under internationally recognized soccer experts.
His own expertise gained him coaching positions
at Wigan Athletic FC, Manchester City FC,
and the David White Soccer School. For the
past 3 years Mark has been coming to the
United States to coach at the Oakland University
Summer Soccer Camps. He has also been an
invited guest evaluator for the Michigan
Olympic Development Program Tryout Process.
Mark holds the internationally recognized

Professional Coach/Trainer : Tony
Leach comes to us from Liverpool,
England where he played football as a center
midfielder in the youth system for the Liverpool
FC in addition to having played professionally
at Wrexham FC and Tranmere FC. Tony received
his football coaching license in 1989 and since
that time has been coaching youth soccer in
different venues within the English Football
Association including the Everton FC youth
program. Tony holds a FA intermediate coaching
badge and a USSF National D coaching license.
Tony has also spent time coaching American
youth players living abroad in Hungary, and
coaching adult men's soccer at the Swedish
club, Beska. In the United States
Tony has just finished his 8 th year at the
Oakland University Youth Summer Camps and has
also been an invited Guest Coach at the Michigan
Olympic Development Tryout Camps. Tony
is well experienced with coaching youth soccer,
both boys and girls ages 9-18years.
Professional Coach/Trainer : Danny
Fitzgerald has been the Head Coach
for Rochester High School and Clarkston High
School soccer teams, he is a past head coach
at Vardar and Rochester Youth Soccer Club.
He is a past Men's Soccer Assistant Coach at
Oakland University. He is currently the Head
Coach for the Michigan Bucks which is the men's
semi-professional soccer team in Michigan.
We are pleased to welcome Danny as the newest
addition to the Flint Steelers Coaching staff.
Soccer Program Consultant : Steve
Seargeant is a native of Liverpool
England and began his professional soccer career
at 16 years of age with the English Premier
club, Everton FC. Following his days at Everton,
Steve made his way to the United States. He
was instrumental in helping to establish and
playing in the first American Professional
Soccer league. Currently, in addition to working
with the Flint Steelers, Steve is a Head Coach
at the Vardar Soccer Club and with the Michigan
Olympic Development Program. These positions
have him training some of the best soccer talent
in the state of Michigan. Steve also holds
a NCAA championship ring from his time spent
coaching at Oakland University with the Men's
